The sound fades
For her not Me Her hands create Words no one Hears Her mother talks With her Silently I looked over Our eyes meet She smiles I sign Hi She grins so big It makes my heart smile We have a conversation Her name is Emma She is twelve But only I know this Only I hear the talking around us Only she knows the silent pain We say goodbye But I remember The look of pure joy When I showed her My sign language Silence
