“Faster, faster,” he yelled at his horse. The horse running at a speed like no other. The horse faster than any horse in the kingdom. Whipping the reigns of his horse to push him to go faster. The sun falling under sea, making a beautiful parade of colors, as time slowly slips away. He entered the woods, a dark maze of trees. Creatures of terror trying to chase him. He exited to the field, a magical field of green. The hills trying to slow him down. He finally reached the great Bridge. he pushed his horse harder, faster. “Faster, faster.” The bridge ended at a sprawling city.

This is the story about what happened in Arizona when I was about 6 and my brother was only 5. One night, my brother and I couldn't fall asleep. We had heard yelling so we went to check it out, we had seen my brother’s father and our mother fighting, My brother's father had gotten so mad that he had stormed out of the house. Our mother had locked the door we had gone to our room crying after seeing that. Once my brother's father had realized our mother had locked the door he had went to our room and knocked on the window. My brother and I had tried to open the window but it wouldn't budge. We went to the door to open it, but before we had the chance to get to the door, my mother told me that if I opened the door I would never see my dad again. Now I know she would not be able to not let me see my father. I am so happy to publish our first story with an LGBTQ character. Discovering who you are can be so hard but so important. This story does an excellent job at capturing that conflict. Enjoy!
