Check out this exciting story that Charlotte is working on. Let her know what you like and what you think she could work on.
“My cousins and I took a trip to North Carolina. We went on a hike to the top of Whiteside Mountain. We ran ahead of my grandparents. We climbed many steep paths and ran many flat paths. We stopped to take a break and we heard movement behind a tree. We looked back, nothing was there. Then, a deep growl crawled up our backs. We looked at each other in confusion.
“John, don’t growl. We will never believe that a bear is actually near if you keep growling.”, I said.
“Ummmm… that was not me”, John replied.
I looked at Ellen and we immediately started running up the mountain. We had bear whistles around our necks that we bought at the Farmer’s Market. We made it to the top and we looked behind us. We saw nothing. Looking across the view, we heard yelling from below. We freaked out so we walked to the tip of the mountain. Reaching the tip, we heard noises in the trees. We ignored the noises and took a picture. The movement got louder and we thought it was person that was off the trail. A old couple yelled at us and told us that people saw 2 bears. Running back down, we came across a black snake. Blowing our whistles, we jumped over the snake. I saw 2 brown blurs behind us.I realized that two angry bears were running after us. We kept running and and screaming.
”STOP!!!” I yelled at the top of my lungs.
Stopping, we came together and raised our arms.
”Roarrrrrrrrrrr”, we all growl.T he bears stand up and we keep yelling. The bears take a step forward and we yell the loudest we have ever yelled. The bears growl at us. We keep yelling and blowing our whistles. The bears back away and they ran into the forest. Blowing our whistles, we sprinted down the mountain. We tried a to open the car door but it was locked. A news reporter truck rolled up and immediately started filming.
The reporter said, ”An old couple of two just died from a bear attack.”
I look around. My eyes tear up and I realized that the couple told us about the bears. My grandparents still have not came down from the mountain. John runs to the trail and walks up.
“John!!! Don’t go up there!!!!”, I yell.
“I have to!!” John yells back. I run after John. I pull him back to the road. Our parents come running to us from an off-trail.”
I look at my grandma in amazement. My cousin yelled from the bathroom, “Tell it again grandma, again!!
