Earl The Turtle
Earl is an adventurous turtle. Earl likes making things with his friends, like Finley the flounder and Simon the seahorse. Together they make team, a trio! One day Earl and the trio were scouring the sea and found a coral tree, that’s when Earl found a plastic straw. This straw gave Earl a great thought.
“What if we use this clear tube as material for the roof of a house!” Earl said to his friends.
“Great idea!” Earl’s friend, Finley the flounder shouted.
“I don’t think that’s such a great idea.” Simon the seahorse pouted.
Earl thought about why his friend didn’t like this idea, but couldn’t figure out why. “But why Simon? Why not?” Earl asked confused.
“Haven’t you heard? About Timmy the turtle?” Simon took the straw from Earl.
“Who’s Timmy?” Earl asked, still looking at the straw.
“Exactly!” Simon exclaimed, “He died, from eating one of those things!” Simon said with disgust.
“Oh Simon, I appreciate you for being safe, but we are all responsible can’t you tell?” Earl claims.
The trio continued scavenging for materials but Earl is so excited he gets carried away finding things. “Wow!” Earl yelled, “look at that!”
Earl swims to the floating white bag. Earl holds the contraption and thinks about what Simon said.“What if I should be more careful?” Earl thinks to himself.
Earl tries to be careful when grabbing the bag, but when he finally grabs hold, a huge current makes him twirl and spin. Earl suddenly feels out of control! All the spinning makes Earl get caught! “Help!” Earl cries. Earl fights the horrible thing for as long as he can, but as soon as he is about to give up, Simon and Finley are helping him out.
Finley and Simon pull and tear the bag while Earl wiggles his way out. Earl brakes free with the help of his friends.
“Ahhhhhhhh I’m Free!” Earl says with excitement. “I have had enough with that troublesome thing!” Earl yells.
“I thought you would be more careful!” Simon says to Earl.
“I was trying to be, but all I could think about was how great the bag could have been for the house!”
“Earl you must be more cautious, if we weren't looking for you, much worse things could have happened.”
“I understand, thanks guys.” Earl says with appreciation.
“No problem, but please, be more careful!” Simon and Finley say.
Earl nods and the trio head back, fin in fin to the reef with a new perspective.
